Elderly man commits suicide by drowning himself?

LAOAG CITY, Jan. 7, 2020–While in most suicide cases in Ilocos Norte the past victims usually hanged themselves, this elderly man of Brgy. 27 of this city used a different method: he preferred drowning onto the sea.

Brgy. chairwoman Madelyn Padayao of Calayab here said her Tanod chief and deputy fished out an elderly man floating off the shore of a beach resort in her village.

The rescuers applied first aid to the victim before they rushed him to the hospital but an attending doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.

Earlier, his children sought police assistance to help locate their missing 69-year-old father.

It was learned that their father was last seen alive driving a motorcycle in an unknown direction.

Investigators said a suicide note of the victim was found in the compartment of his abandoned motorcycle parked near the beach.
Depression might be the cause for the victim to commit suicide, the police probers said. (tri-media report)
