Well-Prepared Barangay and SK Polls Assured

LAOAG CITY (September 30) – Provincial Board of Election Supervisor Atty. Alipio Castillo III assured that the COMELEC is prepared and that his staff and personnel will serve to the fullest in the coming Barangay and SK polls this October.

Castillo said they have prepared themselves well for the youth and village elections in October as this is mandated by law.

“Our level of commitment remains the same,” as he compared it in the last May 12 national election.

Meanwhile, Castillo noted the decreased number of registered voters in the province.

He said that in the previously held national election, there were 363,012 registered voters. For this October polls, he said that there were only 355,631 registered voters.

The COMELEC provincial director attributed the decrease to several factors such as death, transfer of residence, and disqualification due to non-casting of votes in the last election.

He clarified, though, that the decrease may be ignored since it happens always in every election.
