In Case of Flood, Batacquenos Will Use ‘Raket’

All 44 barangays of Batac City may soon be required to acquire bamboo raft or ‘raket’.

In a resolution filed by city councilor Orlando Mangapit, chairman on committee on peace and order, all barangays should at least have a balsa or bamboo raft which could be used as a substitute to rubber boats in case of flood during typhoon.

He cited the frequent lack of rubber boats for rescue operations during typhoons or floods.

He said that due to lack of funds to purchase modern rubber boats, the alternative is balsa or bamboo raft which is not expensive or costly since it is only made of indigenous and common materials such as bamboo poles, etc . (edg)
