Man drowns in a creek as honey bees attack him

SOLSONA, Ilocos Norte, April 27—Orlando Tejada allegedly drowned in a creek after he was attacked by a swarm of ferocious wild honey bees in a forest at Brgy. Manalpac, this upland town, a belated report said today.

Police investigators said the victim and eight companions went to the forest to gather herbs and “abal-abal” for exotic food.

While walking in the bushes, the group accidentally disturbed the honey bee nest.

The swarm of bees attacked the group and stung the victim as his companions scampered for safety.

He tried to elude the bees by diving into a creek where he drowned, the investigators said.(tsg)
