Laoag eyes top Aliwan Fiesta awards

The city government of Laoag is now in full-swing preparation for the upcoming Aliwan Fiesta which will be held on April 12-14 in Metro Manila, City tourism & social concerns council chairperson and ABC President Chevylle V. Fariñas announced.

She said that the city will participate in float competition, dance parade and the search for the Reyna Ng Aliwan 2012, although a representative is yet to be chosen among the beauties.

She expressed optimism that the city delegates will once again perform well as shown in the past.

She recalled that the city delegation had been champion for three times in the float competition and placed as runners up in both Dance and Reyna ng Aliwan search.

Now on its 10th year, Aliwan Fiesta has transformed into one of the grandest festivals that draws many of the country’s outstanding talents in a grand showcase of cultural tourism.

The Aliwan Festival is organized by the Manila Broadcasting Company and Star City in cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the National Parks Development Committee.

The grand parade will kick off at the Quirino Grandstand on April 14. (Theo S. Guiang)
