Inmate weds GF at jail chapel

LAOAG CITY, Dec. 10– Love behind bars sees no barriers when it dictates the heart. This was proven true by a male inmate, 29, alias “Troy” and his non-inmate girl friend, 22, alias “Hersey”.

The groom, clad in barong tagalog and the bride in white gown exchanged “I do” in a religious ceremony held at the chapel inside the compound of the Ilocos Norte provincial jail here.

Earlier, Troy expressed excitement as he stepped out from his detention cell towards the chapel escorted by a jail guard.

No less than provincial jail warden Dario Estavillo officiated the wedding ceremony. Estavillo, himself, is a pastor of Church of Christ, hence, he is legally authorized to officiate marriage.

Other inmates and the couple’s relatives witnessed the wedding rites. Some inmates stood as principal sponsors.
The rites ended with cheers and applause as the duo kissed each other after Pastor Estavillo declared the pair as husband and wife. The groom hails from San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte while the bride is from Batac City.
