No to mayors’ suspension amid pandemic–VG Marcos

Vice Gov. Cecilia Araneta-Marcos said she’s not in favor of imposing a preventive suspension on alleged erring mayors of the province during this pandemic.

The vice governor reacted to the three administrative cases of two town mayors and one municipal councilor pending before the Sangguniang Panglalawigan which she chairs as the presiding officer.

She reasoned out that the services of the local chief executives are needed most by their constituents during the ongoing battle against the deadly COVID-19.

If there is no pandemic, she said it’s reasonable to suspend any alleged erring mayors, if necessary, while their administrative cases are being heard as part of the due process.

However, the vice governor explained that she respects how the Sangguniang Panglalawigan handles all cases being heard by the august body. (tri-media report)
