VINTAR, Ilocos Norte, Jan. 25, 2021–A man allegedly drowned while swimming in a river resort at Brgy. Parparoroc, this town, lawmen reported.
P/Major Arnel Tabaog, the town police chief, identified the victim as Noriel Pasion y Retundo, 40, resident of the same barangay.
He said the victim, together with his live-in partner, went swimming in the Bislac river at the Omok ti Siwawer resort.
His partner told investigators that the victim dived into the deep portion of the water.
When the victim failed to resurface, his partner got worried and called for help.
Municipal disaster risk reduction management responders rescued the victim and rushed him to the hospital in Laoag City where attending doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police said the victim was believed to be under the influence of liquor when he swam into the river. (tri-media report)
