Laoag enrollment hits 97.55 % mark

*No learners must be left behind–Eda

The student enrollment status of the Schools Division of Laoag has reached 97.55% mark as of June 30, 2020, Superintendent Vilma D. Eda reported.

She made the disclosure during the Superintendent’s Time on Brigada 93.9 segment broadcast through DWAT 93.9 on July 1.According to Eda, the remaining percentage of enrollees must not be disregarded. She emphasized that no learners must be left behind, hence, the SDO Laoag exerts all effort to track the remaining students who are willing to enroll.
She also expressed her appreciation to the barangay and city officials who are working hand-in-hand with SDO Laoag during the enrollment process.

Moreover, Eda appealed to the retired teachers of the SDO Laoag to serve as volunteer teachers at the designated Room 101 for Kindergarten to Grade 3 pupils under the New Normal.

Meanwhile, Felmar P. Gapas, Planning Officer III, reminded all teachers about the importance of accurate encoding of needed details in the Learner Information System (LIS).

“Advisers are the ones who will verify learners’ data and encode them in LIS once the system is back online on July 7”, he added.

The said system is used to store pertinent records of learners and track their progress and performance to determine those who may be promoted to the next grade level at the end of the school year. Also, these data may be used for planning for resources, budgeting and decision-making of authorities.

He added that problem on access to the system may be encountered due to heavy traffic when teachers use the system simultaneously.

He clarified that the system is nationwide, hence, there might be a heavy influx of users. Moreover, the availability of documents remains a problem due to late submission and validation.

Further, the system can detect duplicate Learner Reference Number (LRN) which is a result of inaccuracy of data encoded by the adviser.

He advised that if the said instance is encountered, a request form and scanned copies of School Form (SF) 9 and SF 10 shall be submitted to the Central Office. (SDO Laoag)
