Gov. MMM cites 280 Sirib youth awardees

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte, through the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office (INYDO), has awarded some 280 Ilocano youths during the 7th Sirib awarding rites held at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena, Laoag City last November 16.

The Sirib Award started in 2014 to recognize the youths who have brought honor to the province through their participation in national and international competitions such as in the fields of academics, leadership, sports, journalism, culture, and arts, among others.

In his video message, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc underscored the significance of youth awareness and involvement at this time of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

“I applaud you. Please know that you have a supporter in your Governor and the entire Provincial Government,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, student leaders from the different local schools, colleges, and universities gathered at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall, Provincial Capitol and celebrated the National Students’ Day on November 17 through a series of dialogues and workshops.

Topics discussed were “Student Legislation” by Laoag City Councilor Rbee Ablan, “Harmony between Student Council and School Administration” by Precious Camille Bucad, and “Online Content Management and Crisis Communication” by Jhazmine Audrey Miguel and Radz Bismonte, respectively.

Also present in the celebration were Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos, SP’s Chair of the Committee on Education Atty. Saul Lazo, and Sangguniang Kabataan Federated President Rafael C. Medina. (PGIN)
