LAOAG CITY, May 21– A 10-year-old girl was hospitalized for injuries after she was struck on the head with a baseball bat during a commotion that erupted in a birthday party at Brgy. Camangaan, this city, lawmen said.
Lt. Col. Mar Louise Bundoc, city police chief, said his men, who quickly responded to a call about a commotion, found that a barangay councilman was involved in the quarrel.
The councilman, armed with the baseball bat, allegedly provoked his relatives to a fight due to an old grudge about a land dispute, investigators said.
During the commotion, they added that the councilman swung the baseball bat and hit the head of the victim who was standing nearby.
The suspect claimed it was purely accidental and didn’t intend to hit the young victim. (tri-media report)
