Cimatu, Jr. is new LMP- I.Norte chapter head

LAOAG CITY— Bangui Mayor Fidel Cimatu Jr. was elected as the new president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP), Ilocos Norte chapter.

“Thank you for your trust and confidence. This is another responsibility on my shoulder. I pledge to make our LMP chapter active in promoting the welfare of our organization and the community we served especially during a disaster,” Cimatu said after taking his oath of office before Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc.

A second-term mayor of Bangui and retired police general, Cimatu was unopposed during the league’s election held on Tuesday, September 3 at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan session hall, provincial capitol, Laoag City.
He succeeded erstwhile mayor Erdio Valenzuela of Dingras, Ilocos Norte, now the town’s new vice mayor.

Aside from Cimatu, the other LMP local chapter officers are Executive Vice-President — Mayor Jeofrey Saguid (Dingras); VP for 1st District – Mayor Remigio Medrano (Sarrat); VP for 2nd District – Mayor Edward Quilala (Currimao); Secretary – Mayor Fritzie Dela Cruz-Gapasin (Bacarra); Treasurer – Mayor Antonio Mariano (Marcos); Auditor – Mayor Rommel Labasan (Pinili); Business Manager – Mayor Ferdinand Aguinaldo (Pasuquin); PRO – Mayor Larisa Foronda (Vintar).

The Board Directors are Mayor Rosalia Dupagen (Adams); Mayor Joseph de Lara (Solsona); Mayor Romulo Acdal (Paoay).

Mayor Eddie Guillen (Piddig), Mayor Rene Gaspar (Carasi) and Mayor Raffy Rafael Benemerito II (Pagudpud) served as Election Officers.

The LMP is an organization of municipal mayors of the country created under the Local Government Code of 1991 (Republic Act 7160). (IS)
