Businessman’s mansion searched

LAOAG CITY, July 27– Police searched a businessman’s palatial home located at the western part of the city and found assorted firearms and ammunition, a PNP report said.

Armed with a search warrant (SW) issued by the court, the police operatives knocked at the mansion door early morning and surprised the businessman. who later yielded the assorted firearms and ammunition.

The owner told the lawmen that the firearms and ammo are all licensed.

However, the raiding team said they seized the guns and ammo for some alleged violations as well as for verification of documents and ballistic check.

When interviewed later by reporters, Supt Dominic Guerrero, city police chief, said the subject of the SW was not included in their watchlist for an illegal drug.

Shortly after the search, the businessman spoke in a broadcast interview saying that some detractors were suspecting him as a drug lord in which he denied any involvement in illegal activities.

He explained he had a big loan in the bank and knew how to roll it to put up his business such as hotels, gasoline stations and engaged in buy-and-sell of second-hand cars. (tri-media report)
