SAN NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte, Aug. 27, 2020– A man gunned down a mechanic using M-16 Armalite rifle during a quarrel at Brgy. 11, this town, lawmen reported.
P/Major Joseph Baltazar, the town police chief, identified the victim as Edwin Martin Jr., a mechanic, and resident of Brgy. 13, Laoag City.
The victim sustained five gunshot wounds in the body.
He was rushed to a nearby private hospital here for treatment but the attending doctor pronounced the victim dead on arrival.
The suspect fled the crime scene but pursuing police operatives captured him near a gasoline station of this town.
The fatal weapon used in the shooting was not yet recovered.
The suspect claimed he threw away the gun near the river bank but when the lawmen search the area, they came out empty-handed.
Investigation showed that personal grudge was the alleged motive behind the gunslaying. (tri-media report)
