2 NPA rebels surrender to the provincial police

CAMP JUAN, Laoag City, March 29, 2021–Two New People’s Army rebels voluntarily surrendered with one firearm to the Ilocos Norte police provincial office at this camp here.

The rebels’ surrender coincided with the 52nd founding anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).

The INPPO said the surrenderees are inseparable brothers and natives of Carasi, an upland town of Ilocos Norte.

The older brother said he joined the CPP-NPA underground movement at the age of 20. He is now 50.

He said his younger brother, recruited at the age of 15, is now 45.
Both described their experience of a hard life, among others, while wandering in the mountain especially during typhoons and rainy days.

The INPPO assured that the government will financially assist the two surrenderees as both rejoined the mainstream of the society and returned to normal life. (tri-media report)
