154TH BIRTH YEAR OF GEN. ARTEMIO RICARTE. The City Government of Batac and Philippine Veterans Affairs Office commemorated on October 20, 2020 the 154th Birth Anniversary of the Ilocano war hero Gen. Artemio “Vibora” Ricarte. A wreath-laying ceremony in honor of the famous general was held at the Ricarte National Shrine in Batac City. The historical event was attended by Batac City Mayor Albert Chua, Vice Mayor Windell Chua and city employees, Philippine Veterans Affairs employees and police personnel of PNP-Batac. General Ricarte was a teacher, soldier, and patriot. He was born on October 20, 1866 at Batac, Ilocos Norte. He died on July 31, 1945, in Hungduan, Ifugao at the age of 78.
