A woman pushed into a cliff survives w/ gunshot wound

BANGUI, Ilocos Norte, July 3–Flordeliza Bersamira, 48, a real estate broker, married, of 62 Pinagtala St., Batasan Hills, Quezon City, got a new lease on life after she survived a gunshot wound and a near fall to a cliff at Brgy. Baruyen, this town, police said.

Capt. Johnwell Balueta, town police chief, reported that the victim was alighting from a car when she was shot and wounded in the neck.

She was also pushed into a cliff probably to finish her off but luckily, her body entangled to a vine tree preventing her to fall into the deep ravine.

A farmer, who was passing by the area, spotted her clinging to the cliff edge and co-villagers helped rescue her.

The victim was first treated of her wounds at the Bangui district hospital and later, she was transferred to the MMMHospital in Batac City.

Captain Balueta said the victim’s companion who came to Ilocos was the prime suspect in the incident.

Reports said the suspected perpetrator of the crime is an elderly man from Baguio City.

At press time, joint police operatives from Ilocos Norte and the Cordillera reportedly arrested the suspect at his residence in Baguio. (tri-media report)
