Paoay women folks get DOLE cash aid

LAOAG CITY, Sept. 22 — The Department of Labor and Employment-Ilocos Norte field office (DOLE-INFO) recently gave a livelihood grant to a women’s group in Paoay town.

Leonavella Dadiz, DOLE information officer, said their office awarded P163,240 for the carinderia and catering project of the Samahan ng mga Kababaihan Para sa Kaunlaran of Brgy. 25 Callaguip.

DOLE-INFO chief Engracio Bailon handed the cheque to Mayor Bonifacio Clemente representing Paoay government. The awarding was conducted at the Mayor’s Office.

The LGU, which is the accredited co-partner of the project, will provide counterpart funding of not less than twenty percent to the project.

“The grant comes from the Kabuhayan Program of the DOLE as an alternative income generating project for the 25 women-beneficiaries in the said barangay,” Dadiz said.

DOLE Regional Director Henry John Jalbuena said the intervention is aligned with the department’s goal of inclusive growth through decent and gainful employment which is the thrust of Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz.

The beneficiaries extended their appreciation to this joint assistance provided to them by their LGU and the DOLE and promised to make the project grow. (ANL/CPC-PIA 1 Ilocos Norte)
