Mayor Chevylle Fariñas reported that she had already approved the purchase of additional fifty-six CCTV camera units for immediate mounting.
She said the presence of these surveillance gadgets in major streets of the city would help reduce crime rates in the city as well as it could help solve a crime already committed.
City Information Technology Officer Franz C. Felipe said that at present only eight units of CCTV cameras are functioning. He is hopeful that the CCTV project will be completed within this year.
It was learned that during the previous administration under then Mayor (now vice mayor) Michael Fariñas at least 16 CCTV units were installed in the main streets of the city.
