VP BINAY GIVES FOOD ASSISTANCE TO DAPITAN FLASHFLOOD VICTIMS

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay Monday handed bags of food items to 730 families affected by a flashflood in Dapitan City.

Binay gave out crackers, instant noodles, corned beef and sardines to residents of Brgy. Ilaya, which was submerged in water after continuous downpour caused the Dapitan City River to overflow.

“Kapag panahon ng krisis, kailangan sama-sama po tayo. Kaya po ako nandito para kamustahin ang kalagayan ninyo,” the Vice President said to the residents.

“Basta kapag kailangan ninyo ng tulong namin, makakaasa kayo na narito kami at hindi namin kayo pababayaan,” he added.

Binay said his office intends to conduct relief operations in other areas affected by the flashflood.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that barangays Barcelona, Oyan, Opao, Ba-ao, Burgos, Sulangon, Polo, Tamion, Diwa-an, Sinonoc and Owaon were also submerged in floodwater.

While in Zamboanga del Norte, Binay also gave wheelchairs to residents of Roxas, Manukan, Katipunan, Polanco and Dipolog.

He also met with local officials and senior citizens of Manukan and Katipunan to turn-over the P500,000 Special Allocation Release Order for the construction of their senior citizens building.
