BACARRA, Ilocos Norte (Nov. 20) – The Bacarra police force is beefing up security measures during the coming town fiesta after an an assassination plot on Mayor Nicomedes de la Cruz was bared recently.
The plot was uncovered by his police security escort when a man, who claimed to be from Badoc, Ilocos Norte, told him about the plan to kill the mayor during the town fiesta celebration.
Although Mayor de la Cruz shrugged off the report, he nevertheless notified the police about the said information.
As a precautionary measure, he asked PNP Provincial Director Marlou Chan to augment the PNP personnel in Bacarra on or before the November 30 annual town fiesta. (edg)
