Woman’s suicide try at Gilbert bridge aborted by passerby

LAOAG CITY, Aug. 17, 2020–A belated report on Aug. 13 said a 36-year-old woman attempted to jump from the Gilbert bridge of this city, thanks to an alert male passerby.

P/Lt. Col. Rafael Lero, the city police chief, said the restless woman from nearby San Nicolas town was about to jump from the bridge when the alert passerby rushed toward her, grabbed her arms, and saved her from possible tragic fall.

When grilled at the police station, Women Desk investigators said they found a bottle of muriatic acid inside the victim’s handbag indicating that her second option was probably to poison herself.

It was learned that the woman became depressed after she had an earlier personal quarrel with her live-in partner over alleged money matters. (tri-media report)
