Task Force Salun-at leads to counteract COVID-19

Gov. MMM urges public health response,
resource mobilization, among others

Owing to the coronavirus disease menace, members of the province’s prime medical team called Task Force Salun-at have convened a meeting yesterday, March 18, 2020 and discussed immediate medical concerns to help protect the Ilocano community here from the dreaded plague.

Headed by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, Task Force Salun-at is composed of officials/representatives of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, Governor Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital, PGIN-Provincial Health Office, and component city and municipal health offices.

Previously Institutionalized under Executive Order (EO) No. 51-20, “Task Force Salun-at: Sagubanit Adaywannak,” was fully activated upon placing the province under community quarantine through EO No. 60-20 issued on March 14.

Duties and responsibilities of the Task Force include raising community awareness, promoting preventive and curative measures, perform rapid action and resource mobilization, clinical management and public health response, and planning and periodic reporting.

In an advisory, Governor Marcos Manotoc reiterated the following reminder:

“These are the only people who should wear face masks: PUM or persons under monitoring, those who have possibly been exposed to COVID-19 carriers but without symptoms; PUI or persons under investigation, those who show COVID-19 symptoms; individuals who are sick; and those who have direct contact of PUM, PUI, or people like our frontline service providers.”

He also acknowledged the efforts of the province’s entire medical team saying, “Thank you. We could not express enough our gratitude to all of you, most especially our health workers and everyone who is dealing with this.”—(EJD, PGIN-CMO)
