BACARRA, Ilocos Norte, Oct. 16, 2021–Is this the bitter impact of loneliness amid the COVID pandemic?
A man, who was apparently gripped with loneliness, hanged himself after a quarrel during an overseas phone call with his wife working abroad.
P/Major Dionisio Baldillo, the town police chief, said the victim, whose name was withheld, was found dead hanging using a rope that he looped around his neck.
Major Baldillo said the victim was rushed by responders to the hospital where an attending doctor declared the man dead on arrival.
Investigators ruled out foul play in the incident.
Independent observers shared that suicide cases soared in this province even before and during the existing contagion. (tri-media report)
