SOLSONA, Ilocos Norte, May 27, 2020–Eugenio Balantac Jr., 54, farmer, and jeepney operator, was shot and killed in an ambush at Brgy. Santiago, this town, police reported today.
P/Captain Chris Anthony Sorsano, the town police chief, said the victim from Brgy. Juan was driving eastward along the national highway after coming from the town proper when the assailants fired at him frontally.
Captain Sorsano told the media that they let a doctor declare the victim clinically dead after examining the bullet-riddled body.
Investigators said they found at the crime scene six empty shells for bullets of Caliber .45 pistols.
They described the ambush scene as far away from houses, hence, residents did not hear the sound of gunfire.
The motive behind the ambush-slaying remained undetermined, the police probers said. (tri-media report)
