LAOAG CITY, Nov. 6 — A team of linemen and engineers of the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) will stand tall as ‘Warriors of Light’ as they flew to the province of Albay on Nov. 4 to help restore electricity in the areas heavily devastated by Typhoons Quinta and Rolly.
INEC formed the Task Force Team called “Power Restoration Rapid Deployment (PRRD)”, an initiative of the One EC Network Foundation through the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association Inc. INEC General Manager Felino Herbert Agdigos said the team is composed of 15 engineers and linemen who are tasked to join other cooperatives in the massive line clearing and power restoration in the aftermath of the twin strong typhoons.
According to the general manager, it is the electric cooperative’s core value of volunteerism to extend a hand in times of disasters.
“Nagbalinen a rebbeng ti INEC ti mangipaay ti boluntaryo a tulong kadagiti kakabsattayo ti kooperatiba a nadangran ti aniaman a didigra. Ti kastoy a pinagkikinnamayet ti mangipakita ken pakariknaam ti husto a kaipapanan ti kooperatibismo,” Engr. Agdigos said.
(INEC has been voluntarily helping our brothers and sisters in our cooperatives who were affected by any disaster. As we reach out to them, it shows the real value of who we are in the cooperative.)
Before they departed to the Bicol Region, the team offered prayers and carefully checked needed equipment and safety gears.
The team leader said they are set to bring hope for the Bicolano people who still experiencing power outage.
“Ti panagturong tayo iti destinasion ket saan a kinadagsen ti intay balunen. Saan a rigat ti intay ibaklay ngem diketdi ragsak a kasukat ti tulong nga intay ipaay,” Engr. Jayzon Rae Niño, the team leader, shared.
