CAMP JUAN, Laoag City, Jan. 8, 2021–A father, believed to be suffering from depression, allegedly killed himself in front of his minor child at a village in Banna, Ilocos Norte, police reported.
P/Lt. Col. Randy Baoit, the INPPO spokesman, said the father took a knife and thrust it fatally into his own neck in front of his child.
Ongoing investigation showed that the victim apparently became depressed due to alleged large debts.
It said that his money problem was aggravated by the global pandemic which hampered his OFW wife in returning to the country.
There were reported past instances that the victim had acted mentally indifferent, witnesses said. (tri-media report)
