An accolade to NBI-Laoag

While a majority of our local government authorities were frequently focused in the spotlight for their unwavering and laudable services in combating COVID-19 and other assigned tasks, some state bureaus may prefer to be obscure and in low profile.

One such publicity-shy government functionary is the National Bureau of Investigation in Laoag City headed by lawyer Diosdado Araos.

Like the NBI central office and its branch offices in other parts of the country, whose continuing thrust is to maintain the stature as one of the top investigative and crime-busting institutions in the country, the NBI-Laoag in Ilocos Norte has been performing its job par excellence in terms of investigation and detection of crimes and other offenses against the laws of the Philipines, not to mention its services in intelligence, technical assistance, human resource and management as well as forensic, among other functions.

True to its mission, the NBI-Laoag cracked down this week a suspected sex den through an entrapment sting at Brgy. Lydia, Marcos, Ilocos Norte.

The team of NBI agents under the direct command of their NBI chief Attorney Araos swooped down into the alleged prostitution covert and cornered the suspected female mastermind who apparently long used her owned house as the secret place of her illegal activities.

Rescued at the sex dungeon were four innocent girls being exploited by the mastermind to engage in flesh trade. The girls covered their faces in shame when the NBI operatives turned them over to the DSWD for custody to undergo guidance and counseling.

Indeed, while our province mates in Ilocos Norte continued to worry about general health woes amid the COVID-19, we take a timeout to commend and recognize the impressive accomplishments of the NBI-Laoag office through the able leadership of Atty. Diosdado Araos and the full support of his gallant NBI agents in all its daring anti-crime operations, which got no media hype, so to speak.

There is no doubt that with their proven outstanding feat, the NBI-Laoag office attests to its vow to help attain “a world-class investigative institution–dynamic, respected, trusted and committed to the ideals of law and order”.

Congratulations and keep up the good work! # (Ilocos Sentinel)
