Ex-Ilocos Norte PD Marlo Chan killed in P’sinan ambush

Retired police general Marlo Chan, who served as police provincial director of Ilocos Norte years ago, was killed in an ambush staged by motorcycle-riding criminals in Calasiao, Pangasinan last Jan. 9, 2020, lawmen reported.

Chan, a native of San Quintin, Pangasinan, was aboard a Ford Ranger pick up when the gunmen riding in tandem fired at his vehicle in the national highways in Calasiao.

His driver, who survived the ambush unhurt, rushed Chan to the Dagupan City Hospital where he expired upon arrival.

Investigators said Chan was last seen alive drinking a coffee in a restaurant apparently waiting to meet someone in that place.

A CCTV footage showed that before Chan arrived at the place, the suspects riding in tandem stood by and quickly turned around and left the place when they saw Chan’s vehicle was approaching.

It was learned that Chan retired from police service last year. He also served as PD in his home province of Pangasinan and got other PNP regional top posts before he reached the mandatory retirement age of 56. (tri-media report)
