LAOAG CITY (Feb. 6) – A South Korean national, who was charged with estafa, pleaded “not guilty” during an arraignment held here before the Regional Trial Court, Branch 12 presided by Judge Charles Aguilar.

Kim Young Sy was accused of swindling money amounting to some P250,000 cash from a certain Wilfredo Valdez. The foreigner was accompanied by his defense counsel Juan Conrado Respicio II.

The accused alleged that he used the money he owed from Valdez to buy several jewelry items. However, he could not produce in court any of the said jewelry items.

Meanwhile, the court granted the accused’s request for permission to go to the nearest hospital for treatment of severe back ache.

The preliminary conference was set on February 11.

Immigration Officer of Ilocos Norte Atty. Francis Oca was also present during the arraignment.
