Grave Bandits
Strike

PASUQUIN, Ilocos Norte, Aug. 8– Thieves, nowadays, spare no one even the dead.
Police said they found the grave of a male balikbayan allegedly desecrated.

At the public cemetery here, the said grave was dug by unknown thieves who looted the cadaver.

A woman told reporters that her relative’s funeral was extravagant which probably tempted the thieves to dig the grave.

The deceased was a retired US army pensioner, thus, the culprits thought his coffin had valuables including gun and jewelry. In San Nicolas town, a villager found an empty coffin abandoned in a forested area.

Cops said it is a metal casket and believed to be imported.(g.a.)
