9-month-old pregnant teacher, hubby perish in road mishap

 

DINGRAS, Ilocos Norte, Feb. 02–Alexie Imbana and his nine-month-old pregnant wife Analiza died in a road accident that occurred at Brgy. Suyo, this town at 7 o’clock this morning, police said.

The victims were residents of Brgy. 24, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

Investigators said Alexie drove early this morning his Wave motorcycle with his pregnant wife as co-rider.

They were bound eastward for Marcos town where his wife Analiza worked as an elementary school teacher. It was learned that Analiza was expected to give birth to her baby this coming February 18, hence, she was going to the school today to file her maternity leave.

Investigators reported that when the couple reached Brgy. Suyo, this town, a passenger jeepney coming from the opposite direction overtook a tricycle and collided with the victims’ motorcycle.

Due to the impact, the victims were thrown separately. Both were rushed to the nearby Dingras district hospital where both were declared dead on arrival.

The report did not give any detail on what happened to the teacher’s unborn baby. Three passengers of the jeepney were also hurt and treated at the hospital for their injuries.

The jeepney driver was detained and now facing criminal charges for reckless imprudence resulting to double homicide, physical injuries and damages to property, police said.(tsg w/ report from ga, mma, nrt)
