BADOC, Ilocos Norte, March 11–Six people, all cousins, were arrested by joint police and Bantay Dagat operatives for allegedly using illegal air compressor apparatus while fishing off Brgy. Aring, this town yesterday.
Town police chief S/I Rodelio Santos said they also seized the unmarked motorized banca used by the suspects, several fishing paraphernalia and a kilo of “dilis” fish.
Air compressor endangers the health of a person if he uses it for breathing while in deep sea fishing, Santos said.
The suspects violated a provincial ordinance on the use of illegal fishing apparatus, police said.(tsg w/ kl report)
