3 fishers wounded in dynamite blast

SINAIT, Ilocos Sur, June 16 — Danilo Ancheta and his two companions were seriously wounded when a suspected dynamite stick locally called “Bongbong” prematurely exploded while they were fishing off the sea coast of this town, police reported.

Chief Inspector Reynaldo Mendoza Jr., town police chief, said as a result of the blast, the first victim’s hand was amputated, another became blind due to mutilated eyes and the third one was still under treatment in the hospital. A fourth companion emerged unhurt.

C/I Mendoza said the victims refused to divulge the supplier of the dynamite which they used in their illegal fishing activities.(w/ rg report)
