Troubled plane force lands at Laoag Airport

A commercial plane bound for Basco, Batanes diverted its flight and force landed at the Laoag International Airport in Laoag City at past 2:00 p.m.this Monday due to alleged mechanical trouble aviation officials here said.

The plane’s over 70 passengers including foreign tourists were reported all safe when they arrived here.

The airplane left the Manila domestic airport and was bound for Batanes when the pilot decided to abort the Batanes flight and instead diverted it to the nearest Laoag Airport.

The pilot radioed the Laoag Airport tower for emergency landing prompting the aviation officials here to deploy ambulance and fire trucks near the runway in case of any untoward incident, the report said.(tsg)
