Strong wind, slippery road trigger accident in Burgos

BURGOS, Ilocos Norte, Dec.30–An SUV (sports utility vehicle) bumped a passenger van carrying local tourists from Novaliches, Quezon City during a road accident at Brgy. Bubon, this town, lawmen said.

Police investigators said at least eight occupants in both vehicles were pronounced out-patients after doctors treated their minor injuries in the body.

Probers said the SUV driven by Norman Sagucio of San Isidro, Dumalneg town, was heading northward when a strong wind dragged it into the other lane hitting the incoming van.

Due to the impact, the van overturned to its side while the SUV also rammed a concrete fence. The SUV’s airbag saved Sagucio and his wife, who was also in the front seat, from serious injuries.

The asphalt road became slippery due to drizzle which probably also contributed to the accident, they said.(w/ report from d.a.)
