SIRIB Mile for Laoag City – Gov. Imee

Governor Imee Marcos introduced the SIRIB Mile project, an initiative of the Province of Ilocos Norte, during her charter celebration speech in front of the Laoag City Hall yesterday.

According to Governor Marcos, the SIRIB Mile project aims to develop the university belt which will include parts of Ablan Avenue going to INCAT, the Centennial Arena, INHHS, the Marcos Stadium, the DepEd building, MMSU-CIT, and the Divine Word College of Laoag.

Governor Marcos said the project will focus onenhancing the educational environment for future generations, especially the Ilocano youth of today.

Prior to its debut, the provincial government embarked on a province-wide comprehensive development master plan with architect and urban planner Felino Palafox, Jr. The Palafox plan aims to transform the current university belt into the education hub of the province.

In her speech, the governor enjoined the City of Laoag in the province in its efforts to make the SIRIB Mile a student center where all the best students and best minds in Ilocos Norte gather.

Distribution of 943 PantawidPamilyang Pilipino Program cash grants, medical and dental mission, mini agri-fair, and the distribution of ovilarvacidal (anti-dengue) trap to all barangays, and other activities were held to celebrate the 47th year of the granting of the city status of Laoag.–Nicole Rudio, CMO-PGIN
