LAOAG CITY, July 16– Grade 6 pupil Reinier Navarro, 12 years old, was attending his Pilipino subject at Shamrock elementary school here yesterday when he moved closer to an electric fan as he was not not feeling well.
Later, a seatmate asked their teacher for help when Reinier slumped in his chair.
The city’s department of public safety ambulance quickly arrived and rushed him to the Laoag City General Hospital in Brgy. Nalbo.
Doctors, who swiftly attended to the boy, pronounced him dead on arrival (DOA) due to alleged heart failure.
Reinier just celebrated his birthday last Saturday, July 12, relatives said.
Report said the boy had symptom of ailment since Grade 3 but he got no medical treatment.
He probably inherited the illness from his mother who died of cardiac arrest in 2008, report added.
When asked for opinion by reporters, city health officer Dr. Renato Mateo advised similar patients to observe good diet and proper exercise.(tsg/al/kl)
