Public Bidding of Infra Projects Goes Transparent

LAOAG CITY, May 2 – The Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) in Ilocos Norte has assured the public that full transparency will be observed in the public biddings of various infrastructure projects in several municipalities in District 1 this May.

Officials of the 1st District Engineering Office said this is in line with DPWH Secretary Rogelio Singson’s policy of full transparency in every transaction and bidding of government projects to avoid graft and corruption.

At least seven projects were set for public bidding on May 3, namely, construction of a municipal public building in Barangay Margaay, Vintar; construction of a public building in Barangay Buttong, Laoag City; concreting of Vintar-Laoag-Sarrat Roads; concreting of Barangay Bacsil North, Laoag City; and labor provision for the completion of a barangay hall in Barangay San Leandro, Sarrat.

The bidding will be held at the DPWH district 1 engineering office in Laoag City.

With the volume of projects in Ilocos Norte, the DPWH field office is fast tracking the transparent bidding of these various projects to take advantage of the good weather condition prevailing in the province.

The DPWH is seeking the support of the civil society groups and NGOs to monitor and ensure that the DPWH projects are bid out competitively in line with President Aquino’s “matuwid na daan” policy in eliminating graft and corruption in the government. (ANL/CPC-PIA 1 Ilocos Norte)
