Provincial Library to distribute magazine donations to schools, municipal libraries

The Provincial Library (Information Hub) of Ilocos Norte is set to distribute thousands of copies of popular magazines to the different schools and municipal libraries in the province.

More than 40,000 copies of magazine donations were received by the Provincial I-hub from the Emerald Headway Distributors, Inc. through its “Support a Library Program.”

Provincial Librarian Matilde Nery said the effort was an initiative of Governor Imee Marcos, in cooperation with the said company.

“We received more than 40,000 copies of popular magazines including Reader’s Digest, People’s Asia, and StarTalk and many other entertainment magazines,” Nery said.

She added that they are planning to distribute the reading materials during the conduct of Capitol Express in every municipality.

The Provincial I-hub has been actively promoting the relevance of books and other reading materials as medium of learning hence the expansion of the library under Governor Marcos’ administration.

It has been transferred along the Sirib Mile, the university belt in Laoag City, to make materials more accessible to students.

The effort is also part of the provincial government’s goal of developing a conducive learning environment for the Ilocano youth.—(Jennifer T. Pambid, PGIN-CMO)
