Pagdilao’s parents believe son is innocent

PINILI, Ilocos Norte (July 6) – The parents of former National Capital Region Police Office director C/Supt. Joel Pagdilao, disputed the accusation that their son is a protector of illegal drug syndicates.

Pagdilao was among those named by Pres. Rodrigo Duterte as one of the police generals allegedly linked to the illegal drugs trade.

Town mayor Samuel Pagdilao Sr. of Pinili said he was surprised over the allegation against his son saying that it is not true.

He firmly believed that his son is innocent of the allegation because he trained Joel since a child to be good man.
Ex-Mayor Anunciacion Pagdilao, mother of Gen. Pagdilao, echoed the response of her husband saying that she doesn’t believe these accusations against their son.

She added that since he and his older brother, retired C/Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr., were still kids she molded them to be good and God-fearing.”

Aside from Pagdilao, Pres. Duterte also accused former Philippine National Police Deputy Director General Marcelo Garbo Jr., retired Chief Superintendent Vicente Loot, Chief Superintendent Bernardo Diaz of Police Regional Office 6, and former Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Superintendent Edgardo Tinio as alleged protectors of drug syndicates.

Many residents of Ilocos Norte, especially those from the town of Pinili where the Pagdilao family rules for decades were shocked and dismayed saying C/Supt. Joel Pagdilao was probably tagged by mistake as alleged illegal drug protector. Joel was also former police chief in Laoag City. (tsg)
