CURRIMAO, Ilocos Norte, March 21– “I had a mental blackout. I didn’t know what I was doing moments ago. I regret,” remorseful Jose Ragudo Jr. uttered the remarks while behind bars at the police station here.
Ragudo, close-in security officer of town Mayor Gladys Go-Cue, went berserk this afternoon and fatally stabbed Nancy Cacayorin, private secretary for both the mayor and mother Vice Mayor Rosario Go.
The incident occurred inside the Go’s business compound, located a few meters away from the town hall. Cacayorin was seated in her office table when Ragudo run amok and attacked her with a kitchen knife. She died on the spot due to 6 fatal stab wounds on the chest and back, INPPO spokesman C/I Leland Benigno told reporters.
The victim’s two female co-workers escaped and cried for help outside the gate. The amok, armed with knife and M-16 baby armalite rifle, holed himself inside the compound. Police chief Ryan Retutar, together with the amok’s wife, negotiated for his surrender. After an hour, the amok yielded peacefully.(tsg/da/dv/fa)
