Matrimonial Tribunal Now Opens its Court

LAOAG CITY (Aug. 27) – The first Laoag City Diocese Matrimonial Tribunal formally opened this morning at 2nd floor, Arnold Janssen Hall here with Bishop Sergio Utleg and Representative Rodolfo Fariñas (1st district, Ilocos Norte) as special guests.

Fr. Ian Rabago, who was trained in Rome about marriage tribunal management, will serve as judicial vicar.

Bishop Utleg explained that the tribunal can nullify illegal marriages such as those nuptial cases tinted with force and deceit. He cited a case as example in which a masquerading married man wed again another woman without the knowledge of the officiating priest.

He said the Fr. Rabago judicial court had already received initial intentions of several clients, however, these cases shall be studied well to find out if there are probable cause. (JRG)
