Manarpaac family adjudged Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya national winner

BATAC CITY, Oct. 5 –The Manarpaac family of this city was adjudged Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya national winner by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the national government.

Leilanie Bartolome Manarpaac is a plain housewife while her husband Ramel is a laborer. Their two children Keiser Dominic and Melanie Kate Manarpaac are both school achievers.

Keiser is a third year high school student who tops their class while Melanie Kate, a grade three elementary pupil is second honor in their class.

Leilanie, according to Ms. Lilibeth Maligsay, social worker III of Batac City, is a hardworking mother. She described the Manarpaacs as truly ‘Huwarang Pamilya’ or a model family.

“Instead of waiting for financial assistance from the DSWD, Leilanie had been active in community services. She attended trainings from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to enhance her skills. Also, she is a parent leader of the pantawid pamilya program” Maligsay said.

The Manarpaac family won the provincial and regional levels of the ‘Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya’ search. In the national level, the family bested the contenders of Baguio City from CAR and Ilo-ilo City from Region IV who emerged only as runners-up.

The members of the Manarpaac family personally received their award at the Mandaluyong City during the recent kick-off celebration of the National Family Week.

As adjudged national winner, the Manarpaac family will play the role as Pantawid Pamilya ambassador who will share their success story of “kayang-kaya ng Pinoy tumawid sa kaunlaran” (Filipinos can succeed) through the program’s various activities. (PIA-Ilocos Norte/ Cherry Joy D. Garma)
