BANGUI, Ilocos Norte — A court employee was killed after he accidentally fell from the top of a dump truck while lighting up fireworks to celebrate the New Year in Barangay San Lorenzo, here.
The fatality, Pastor Calvan, 42, employee of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 19 in Bangui, died at the hospital due to a serious head injury.
Witnesses said Calvan lost his balance and fell while watching the “bomb shell” fireworks he lit.
His head hit the steel side of the truck.
The victim and companions were celebrating the birthday of a municipal official during the incident. (Freddie G. Lazaro)
