“Let us work together for the next 3 years

LAOAG CITY, May 15 — The Commission on Elections has proclaimed all winning candidates in Ilocos Norte from the provincial posts down to the city and town levels.
Both re-elected Governor Imee Marcos and Representative Imelda Marcos (second district) and other provincial officials were proclaimed while Representative Rodolfo C. Farinas (first district) was proclaimed separately. Imee’s cousin Vice Governor Angelo Barba was also proclaimed.
Imee Marcos, Barba and Fariñas all ran unopposed, while Imelda Marcos won over her rivals, Ferdinand Ignacio and Lorenzo Madamba.
Winners for Sangguniang Panlalawigan members in the first district were: 1) Ria Fariñas; 2) Conrado Respicio 3) Portia Salenda 4) Toto Lazo 5) Rogelio Balbag. 470.
In the second district of Ilocos Norte, winners were: 1) Albert Chua 2) Da Vinci Crisostomo; 3) Ramon Gaoat; 4)James Paul Nalupta and 5) Joel Garcia.
(Overall, neophyte Ria Fariñas, 27-year-old, daughter of Congressman Rudy Fariñas, topped the SP’s both districts in Ilocos Norte. It was the first in Ilocos Norte politics for a young and rookie lady politician in the person of Ria Fariñas to best all veteran candidates for the SP seats as far as ranking is concerned. –Editor )
Representative Marcos said that her victory only shows an overwhelming love and support of Ilocanos to the Marcoses.
Governor Marcos, meanwhile, asked winners to set aside politics and start working for a better Ilocos Norte.
“Napakaganda ng result ng One Ilocos Norte team. Halos lahat nanalo, lahat ng talagang pinagpaguran natin na mga lugar. (One Ilocos Norte received a commendable result, almost all that we endorsed won),” she said.
“I am calling other newly-elected officials to join me and work for the next three years, let us work together,” she added. (Cherry Joy S. Discaya/PIA)
