Lectures on consumerism

LAOAG CITY, Oct. 25  — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted lectures on consumerism earlier to highten awareness on the consumer welfare programs of the government held at the Laoag Renzo Hotel, this city.
DTI Provincial Manager Benjamin M. Garcia Jr., said that the event was aimed to revitalize, strengthen and empower consumer organizations particularly in Ilocos Norte and in the country as a whole.

As the culminating activity for the Consumer Welfare month also showcased the awarding ceremony of the DTI-Bagwis Awardees and Accredited Consumer Organization.

Earlier this month, DTI conducted lectures on consumerism to various secondary schools in the province. Distribution and issuing of ICC stickers were part of their activities to highlight the celebration.

DTI Regional Director Florante O. Leal led this afternoon’s activity.

The Consumer Welfare Month celebration is mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 1098 which is also known as Consumers Welfare Act of 1997.
