LAOAG CITY, Aug. 12–Pre-schoolers attended a story-telling and dramatization activity to learn good values in Laoag City recently.
Chevylle Farinas, head of the Association of Barangay Captains and wife of Mayor Michael Farinas, led the story-telling while some staff of the city government acted out the characters to the delight of chosen 500 pupils from day care centers, teachers and parents at the City Auditorium.
In the story “Si Lola, Lola,” wherein a grandmother is left alone with a young grandchild all day long while other members of the family are off to their duties, Farinas taught the value of love, care and respect for our senior citizens, particularly one’s grandparents.
Aurora Corpuz, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, said the activity “Titser ko si Mayor” aims to impart to the youngsters good moral values and right conduct.
“We want to inculcate among our pre-schoolers the right values that would form them into good human beings as they move forward to create a valuable future,” Corpuz said. “Aside from this, activities like this teach our young children camaraderie and socialization.”
During the activity, the children were also given dental kits which include a toothbrush and toothpaste from the City Dental Office as part of the latter’s dental health campaign.
