INEC girds for power shortage

LAOAG CITY (April 23) – OIC INEC General Manager Engr. Herbert Agdigos announced that the cooperative is preparing for an imminent power supply shortage which was earlier hinted by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) after going on a yellow alert status.

Agdigos explained that when the NGCP went on a recent yellow alert, the power reserves were below the ideal of about 647 megawatts, thus, the power grid was vulnerable to additional power disruptions.

He said that this is now a big concern of INEC since it is dependent on NGCP for the supply of electricity and it may have difficulty in getting additional supply needed by the province from Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).

Engr. Agdigos added  that NGCP has also issued the same advisory to other electric cooperatives in the country. (Theo S. Guiang)
