Incoming AFP chief is GI

Southern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Ricardo R. Visaya, who was named by president-elect Rodrigo Duterte as the next Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff under his administration, is a genuine Ilocano (GI).

Visaya hails from Brgy. 4, Bacarra, Ilocos Norte. He graduated from Bacarra Elementary School and Bacarra National Comprehensive High School.

He took up electrical engineering course at Adamson University in Manila before he joined the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio City.

He is a member of PMA “Matikas” Class of 1983. He is due to retire in December, this year.

General Visaya is the third among the seven siblings in the family. Rogelio and Richelle described their Manong Ricardo as simple and humble man, saying they are proud of him. (tsg w/ ga, dd report)
